Personal Wellness Therapist

General Function:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  We are looking for skilled individuals to join our Y’s new Personal Wellness Studio and share our commitment to providing exceptional care within the community.   We are seeking individuals certified in Massage Therapy, Myofascial and Assisted Stretch.  

Know How:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in wellness programming
• Current MA licensure and certification in approved wellness discipline
• Strong customer service and sales skills
• A level of professionalism and maturity that reflects the serious nature of aquatics safety and is in line with the YMCA’s core values & mission
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community.  
• Swim Lessons Instructor Trainer certification (within 6 months of hire) 
• Basic Life Support, Adult and Pediatric First Aid, and Emergency Use of Medical Oxygen (within 60 days of hire)
• Child Abuse Prevention – pre-hire and Annual Refresher

The Y Will Provide:

• Treatment Room/Locker room Access
• Client marketing and recruitment support internally within the Y member base and externally
• Online appointment and registration booking through the Y Welcome Center
• Lotions, wipes and other consumables necessary for treatment
• Laundry and laundry service
• Professional cleaning service
• Cost-share for the therapist and the Y at 75/25

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods.
• Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling and walking.
• Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
• Ability to stay calm and respond effectively in an emergency

Principal Activities:

• Provides direct wellness services to registered member and non-member participants
• Works in partnership with Health & Wellness Director to maximize bookings and client referrals
• Performs wellness services in conjunction with licensing and YMCA standards
• Maintains open communication with the Health & Wellness Director and other staff about any facility or department issues, including concerns or problems relating to staffing, members, programs or facilities.
• Promote membership enrollment and foster leadership development by encouraging members to become involved in committees and other volunteer roles.  Provide a high level of member service to all and ensure that all comments and complaints are responded to in a timely manner (within 24 hours Max)
• Attend staff and committee meetings as needed or directed by your supervisor.  Demonstrate support for the YMCA by participating in special events.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.  Complete incident and accident reports as necessary. 
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
