POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Culinary Program Specialist is responsible to ensure quality food service programming offering health food choices to members and program participants.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 21 years oldA positive, friendly attitude and strong interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively with a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community Prior food service experience required.Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develop, market and implement café programming aimed at building and fostering small communities.Work with Sr. Staff to identify events each month to create programming and opportunity to provide food service.Provide friendly, courteous service to all members, clients and volunteers.Ensure cleanliness, safety and compliance with all Board of Health regulations.Maintains appropriate risk management programs associated with area of responsibility. Follow sound fiscal practices such as using purchase orders and check request properly and obtaining three price quotes before recommending a purchase.Ensure all requests, comments or complaints are immediately addressed by self or referred to appropriate staff person and followed up to ensure task was completed.Contribute to a positive work environment by exhibiting pride, enthusiasm and cooperation in job and with co-workers.Attend all YMCA Staff meetings, Department Team Meetings and staff trainings, as assignedOther duties as assigned
