Late Night Leader - Northwest Y (Part Time)

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Late Night Leader will assist with implementing programming, providing a safe environment for teens, participating directly with teens through organized activities and assuring positive customer service for all participants.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Requirements:

1. Minimum age of 21
2. Relevant work experience working with high school youth

Physical/Mental Requirements:

1. Must be able to routinely perform the following physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand, walk and perform light to moderate physical activity for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
2. Must have ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
3. Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
4. Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment and the desire to work with all ages, especially youth
5. Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
6. Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
7. Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
8. Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times

Job Requirements:

1. Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
2. Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
3. Complete CPR/AED, First Aid, and O2, in accordance with Conditions of Employment
4. Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch
5. Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
6. Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; specifically late nights

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for building effective, authentic relationships with participants, volunteers and staff; greeting and becoming familiar with participants by name.
2. Attending all mandatory staff meetings and in-service hours
3. Assisting Late Night Coordinator with implementing quality programming; taking responsibility for setting up activities in advance so that schedules can be maintained using the posted timeline.
4. Participating with the teens during snack, organized games and theme activities.
5. Maintaining effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and staff.
6. Referring program inquires/concerns to the Late Night Coordinator.
7. Ensuring the program is operating in a safe and purposeful manner, ensuring that all YMCA guidelines are met and exceeded.
8.  Responsible for adhering to staff schedules and assigned tasks.
9.  Completing incident/accident reports when needed and reporting to Senior Program Director within 24 hours of event.
10.  Communicating important program issues and information to the Late Night Coordinator.
11.  Responsible for being a team player with all staff.
12.  Responsible for scheduled hours; communicating as far in advance as possible if unable to work.
13.  Following and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
14.  Following all required reporting procedures for reporting suspected child abuse.
15.  Maintaining a positive, consistent model of discipline.
16.  Vigilantly supervising groups of teens/areas as assigned; being aware of lines of sight and reporting any behavior concerns to the Late Night Coordinator.
17.  Child Abuse Prevention - Responsible for adhering to boundary policies, attends required training, follows procedures for high-risk activities and supervision, reports suspicious behaviors and policy violations, and complies with mandated reporting.
18. Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising.
19. All other duties as assigned.
