Custodian I | Woodbury YMCA | $17.00 per hour

YMCA of the North is seeking custodial staff to uphold standards in cleaning, janitorial services, and general building maintenance. The main responsibility of this role is to assist the team in maintaining the cleanliness of the building. Team members enjoy a free YMCA of the North membership and discounts on YMCA programs!

Schedule:

• Shifts may vary based on operational needs.

• Shifts run from Saturday to Wednesday

  • Saturday 12:15 PM to 6:00 PM

  • Sunday 12:15 PM to 6:00 PM

  • Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

  • Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
    
    

Pay:
The salary for this position is $ 17.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary.

1.  Job Summary:
The Custodian I is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the areas assigned. The incumbent is accountable for the completion of assigned duties with a moderate level of supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to, mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, assisting with meeting setup, and other general cleaning responsibilities. The incumbent interacts positively with members and staff and responds to requests personally or informs the appropriate maintenance staff member. Member service is the incumbent’s main objective while demonstrating the YMCA core values: honesty, responsibility, caring, equity, and respect at all times. 

 2.  Essential Functions: 

• Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
• Perform custodial duties which include, but are not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, assisting with meeting setup, vacuuming, and general cleaning as requested or needed. 
  
  

3.  Relationships:
This position reports to the Custodial Supervisor, who reports to the Executive Director. Work closely with staff to ensure that the Association standards of cleanliness are being met and attend all relevant training programs available. 

4.  Qualifications: 

• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing if needed 
  
  

5.  Work Conditions: 

• Move up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations up to 200 feet away.
• Ability to clean equipment as needed.
• Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
• Perform essential custodial duties in facility which may involve but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
