What are the responsibilities and job description for the Henson Gym Monitor position at Young Men's Christian Association of the Chesapeake, Inc?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides supervision to gymnasium during scheduled times. Enforcement of YMCA policies and procedures while ensuring a positive environment for members in all areas. Facilitation of basketball games including score keeping, team and game assignment, and appropriate utilization based on participation numbers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversea the facility at all times to ensure the safety of participants
- Proper monitoring of gymnasium during peak times ensure that all participants are active members or guests of members.
- Care for courts including end of night sweeping, floor moping, and net replacement.
- Prepare incident and injury reports when appropriate
- Provide service and assistance to all fitness instructors
- Provide a friendly and upbeat customer service environment at all times
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Educate participants and enforce rules and regulations regarding safe and proper use of the equipment and facility
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Two years customer service and security experience in membership based organization or similar environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
- At least 21 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
