POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Facilities Director (dotted line to Branch Executive), the Environmental Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the branch that they are assigned to. The Environmental Services Coordinator works as part of the team and is responsible for the day to day operations of Environmental Services and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean as well as supervise and direct the cleaning staff
- Responsible for making sure the parking lot and grounds are clean and free of trash
- Develop and oversee schedules to ensure that all shifts are covered
- Order and manage housekeeping supplies
- Assist facilities director to Recruit, hire, and train new staff.
- Coach staff as necessary for performance improvement.
- Responsible for protection of YMCA property.
- Develop Environmental Services procedures.
- Perform daily inspections
- In the event of an accident or incident, the coordinator is responsible for completing appropriate documentation.
- Build relationships with members so that they develop a long-lasting relationship with the YMCA.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Safety & General Responsibilities:
- Follow all OSHA rules and regulations (e.g., use ladders, PPE, and other recommended safety equipment).
- Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor; follow emergency response plan procedure.
- Assist with inventory control and security.
- Attend to emergencies when necessary.
- Safely use and maintain assigned power equipment, hand tools, chemicals, and supplies.
- Attend safety meetings and other required meetings.
- Complete end of shift check list to ensure furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools are in their proper location.
- Assist with event setup and teardown.
- Attend classes on cleaning and maintenance methods and techniques, including new products, First Aid, and CPR.
- Assist in the instruction and supervision of volunteers and student help.
Custodial Responsibilities:
- Ensure Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Perform wet and dry mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, bathroom cleaning, vacuuming/shampooing carpets and cleaning hard floors, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
- Launder cleaning rags, dust mops, and towels.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms
- Wash accessible interior and exterior surfaces, including walls and windows, with the aid of ladders and step stools.

Education/Training/Certification:
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Supervisory and team leader experience preferred.
- Experience in preventive maintenance, OSHA regulations, budget development, personnel management, and facility management preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire (training provided).
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience working with a diverse community.
- Working knowledge of age-appropriate behavior modification techniques and activities.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and other basic computer functions.
