Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life. Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.
The Recreational Swim Team Head Coach is responsible for administering the operation of the Recreational Swim Team program within the Association parameters, overseeing the safe management of programs, facilities, volunteers, and financial development within the Recreational Swim Team program.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Assistant Aquatics Director and Aquatics staff to ensure program area operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
- Provide leadership to Recreational Swim Team staff, including, onboarding, role-modeling, and on-going development.
- Engage participants and volunteers to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
- Build specific workouts for individuals or groups based on initial skills assessment and ongoing evaluation.
- Set overall team performance goals and work with the coaching staff, parents, and participants to implement plan to accomplish set goals.
- Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Actively participate in team meetings and committees as assigned.
- Prepare statistical, analytical, and narrative reports regarding programs.
Qualifications:
- Competitive swimming background required.
- Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green).
- Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
- Ability to address and make solid decision in emergency situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone etiquette and computer use.
- Prior experience of successful supervisor of staff and volunteer preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- CPR and AED Pediatric CPR/AED. Prerequisite upon hire – 14-day grace period to obtain.
- Coaches Safety - Prerequisite upon hire – 14-day grace period to obtain.
- Y Aquatics Safety Assistant - Prerequisite upon hire – 14-day grace period to obtain.
Schedule:
Approximately 10-12 hours weekly. Schedule of 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Monday through Friday. You will start setting up for swim team around 4:30pm. You will have a 15-minute break before the next session of coaching which starts at 5:30pm and ends at 6:30pm with breakdown of practice afterwards.
