What are the responsibilities and job description for the Race Timing Specialist - Downtown Boise YMCA position at YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF BOISE IDAHO INC?
The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The Race Timer Specialist is responsible for administering all timing for a variety of different YMCA races.
Responsibilities:
- Set up the timing system and ensure proper operations by testing the equipment prior to the event start and as directed by the Event Director.
- Operate the timing system for the duration of the event.
- Support Events Director with timing system issues.
- Assist with set up, break down and managing timing equipment.
- Troubleshoot any necessary issues that may arise during the event
- Remain calm and centered during the entirety of the event, work through any complications in a respectful manner.
- Take down and return all equipment to its proper place, ensuring items are stored correctly to increase longevity.
- Execute timing functions through entire process including race number assignment, race day timing, set-up, teardown, posting/confirming results, post-race management of timing inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Must be flexible and work in both an office environment and at fast paced event venues.
- Must be able to multi-task in the areas of timing management, race production, and on-line registration.
- Strong computer skills.
- Must have an understanding of databases.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of event timing protocols and ability to create races in Chronotrack and RunsignUp
- Must have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to travel.
- Must be available on work 15-18 weekends, select Holidays and extended hours as needed.
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
Schedule:
This is a part time position averaging 5-10 hours per month. Schedule requirements are Saturdays, one weekend a month or more.
