What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Outdoor Facilitator - YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir position at YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF BOISE IDAHO INC?
Our YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir is seeking Camp Outdoor Facilitators to join their team. This position is responsible for assisting with the planning, leading and implementing of Outdoor Education experiences for participants in a group setting. This position is also responsible for facilitating activities for conferences, groups and retreats. This position ensures that all programs are safe, friendly and a nurturing experience for participants.
Schedule:
This is a full-time seasonal position. Applicants must be able to live onsite at camp during program operations. Onsite housing/room and board are all provided at no cost. Workdays can be both weekdays and weekends with days off between groups.
Responsibilities:
- Develop intentional relationships with participants, staff and volunteers that result in having fun and making new friends.
- Create an environment that fosters safety through the education of participants using the Y voice attributes and by role modeling safe behavior.
- Implement the established curriculum that achieves the five Cause Measurements goals.
- Effectively communicate with participants and leadership using the Y voice attributes and providing feedback when necessary.
- Resolve concerns and issues. Follow appropriate incident response procedures.
- Organize, supervise, and facilitate participants in a variety of environmental programming, in a variety of weather conditions.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience working with youth.
- Ability to live on site during scheduled program times.
- Experience facilitating group is preferred.
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
