We are growing and seeking to add an experienced, motivated professional to serve as Senior Project Delivery Manager. This position will assume the responsibilities outlined below.

Position Overview

The Project Delivery Manager is responsible for leading project delivery, managing projects, allocating resources, developing business, and supervising project management staff to ensure successful execution of work, strong client relationships, and sustainable growth.

This role provides firmwide oversight of programs and projects, including direct leadership of Program Managers and Project Managers, accountability for staffing and capacity alignment, and direct management of selected key projects. The Project Delivery Manager plays a critical role in maintaining backlog, supporting predictable revenue, and ensuring delivery commitments align with Young Environmental’s operational capacity and values.

Primary Responsibilities

Direct Project Management

  • Serve as Project Manager for assigned projects, including complex or high‑priority efforts
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality from initiation through closeout
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects
  • Coordinate internal staff, subconsultants, and partners to ensure timely and successful delivery
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, regulatory obligations, and firm standards
  • Apply YE project management practices consistently and effectively

Project Delivery Leadership

  • Provide oversight and leadership for the delivery of multiple projects and programs across the firm
  • Ensure projects are delivered in alignment with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations
  • Identify and resolve delivery risks related to staffing, schedule, budget, or client expectations
  • Support consistent application of project management standards, tools, and best practices
  • Promote collaboration across technical staff, project managers, program managers, and leadership
  • Ensure delivery commitments are aligned with available staff capacity and expertise
  • Balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term workload sustainability

Resource Allocation and Capacity Management

  • Lead resource allocation planning across programs and projects
  • Assign, monitor, and rebalance staff based on:
  • Project priorities
  • Skill alignment
  • Schedule demands
  • Revenue and backlog needs
  • Monitor utilization trends and proactively address over‑ or under‑allocation risks
  • Partner with leadership to anticipate staffing gaps and support hiring or subcontracting strategies
  • Ensure staffing plans are realistic, achievable, and supportive of high‑quality delivery

Leadership of Program Managers and Project Managers

  • Provide direct leadership and oversight for Program Managers and Project Managers
  • Establish consistent expectations for:
  • Project execution
  • Financial management
  • Client communication
  • Team leadership and accountability
  • Support Program Managers in coordinating multi‑project and multi‑client efforts
  • Coach and mentor Project Managers to strengthen delivery, financial, and leadership capabilities
  • Conduct regular performance check‑ins and support professional development
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and retention of project and program management staff

Business Development and Client Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Identify opportunities for new work and expanded services
  • Lead and support business development efforts, including:
  • Go/no‑go decision‑making
  • Proposal strategy and positioning
  • Scope development and fee negotiation
  • Actively bring in work that aligns with firm strategy, delivery capacity, and staff expertise
  • Represent Young Environmental with professionalism and credibility in client and partner interactions

Financial Management and Deltek Proficiency

  • Utilize Deltek (or similar ERP/project management systems) to:
  • Manage financials for directly managed projects
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, backlog, revenue, and utilization across programs and projects
  • Support forecasting, staffing decisions, and delivery planning
  • Ensure Program Managers and Project Managers use Deltek consistently and accurately
  • Review financial performance across projects and programs to identify trends, risks, and corrective actions
  • Partner with leadership to support predictable revenue, backlog management, and margin performance

Quality, Process, and Continuous Improvement

  • Promote high standards for technical quality, documentation, and communication
  • Support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, consistency, and outcomes
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of project delivery tools, templates, and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in consulting, project management, or project delivery leadership
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects directly and overseeing multiple concurrent efforts
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supervising Program Managers and/or Project Managers
  • Strong background in business development and client relationship management
  • Proven ability to bring in work and support firm growth
  • Demonstrated experience with resource planning, staff allocation, and workload management
  • Working proficiency with Deltek or similar project financial and ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of project financials, backlog, utilization, and revenue forecasting
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to balance hands‑on project management with strategic delivery leadership

Work Environment

  • Hybrid position
  • Ability to work in the office and/or at client project sites as needed to support delivery, collaboration, and leadership presence

Salary Range

Starting at $125,000 dependent on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated ability to manage projects, lead delivery, and generate work
