Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator / Project Manager to join our team. The individual will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects and managing awarded projects from inception to completion. This role combines technical estimating skills with strong project management abilities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities – Estimating Duties
- Review project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Prepare detailed and competitive estimates using takeoff software and vendor quotations.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project profitability.
- Prepare and present bid proposals, including clarifications and exclusions.
Key Responsibilities – Project Management Duties
- Oversee all phases of assigned electrical projects after award.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and manpower plans.
- Coordinate with field supervisors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct project meetings with clients, engineers, and field teams.
- Manage WIP reports, budgets, RFIs, submittals, change orders and invoicing.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, NEC codes, and company policies.
- Review project financials and report variances.
- Complete project closeout documentation.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in electrical estimating and/or project management preferred, but not required.
- Strong understanding of NEC, electrical systems, and construction practices.
- Must be able to travel while overseeing projects out of town
- Proficiency in estimating software (Accubid, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, JATC Apprenticeship or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
