Job description:
Young Boats is seeking to hire two candidates for our rigging department:
Installer (entry level: experience preferred, training provided)
Technical Rigger (experience required).
Pay: $ $25 per hour
The Installer is responsible for staging/installing key parts in preparation for the Technical Rigger who completes the final rigging. These positions are crucial to the entire rigging process from start to finish and require meticulous attention to detail, the ability to maintain organization, and expert craftsmanship. Both positions must adhere to safety standards and be comfortable working in the shop where fiberglass and gelcoat are used for fabrication.
Key Responsibilities (Installer):
· Hang and install outboards (not full rigging)
· Install trolling motors, Power-Poles, and pumps
· Cut-in and install electronics (Screens, transducers, NMEA components)
· Install jack plates with proper alignment and torque
· Install plumbing components (bilge pumps, washdowns, hoses, fittings)
· Install deck hardware (rod holders, cleats, hinges, latches)
· Install T-tops and related hardware
· Install console components (switch panels, steering helm, binnacle)
· Confirm alignment of hatches, helm layouts, and hardware
· Follow details of the build sheets and communicate any issues to management
· Test basic function of components before the boat moves on to the next phase of rigging
· Keep work area clean and organized
· Coordinate with rigging and electrical teams to keep boats in production on schedule
Qualifications and Skills (Installer):
· Mechanical mindset with the ability to understand how systems work together
· Ability to work with various tools for drilling, cutting, wiring, and basic plumbing
· Attention to detail with the ability to maintain a good quality of work
· Critical thinking with the ability to solve problems while working in tight spaces
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an efficient workspace.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to communicate clearly with management if parts are missing or if there is a quality issue
· Self-motivated and able to work without constant direction
Key Responsibilities (Technical Rigger):
- Perform final technical rigging on high-end custom boats with precision, organization, and attention to detail.
- Install and integrate autopilots, radars, NMEA 2000 networks, sounders, and Optimus steering systems.
- Conduct complete rigging for Yamaha, Suzuki, and Mercury outboard engines.
- Install and configure Garmin and Simrad electronics for navigation and communication.
- Set up and troubleshoot Power Poles, Minn Kota trolling motors, and trim tab systems.
- Install and wire Blue Sea ACR systems, battery banks, on-board charging systems, and complete power management solutions.
- Plumb and install marine head systems, ensuring proper function and integration.
- Ensure organized, neat, and efficient wiring that meets or exceeds industry standards.
- Install and integrate Sea Keepers, BocaTech switch systems, and other advanced marine components.
- Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Work closely with the production team to maintain high-quality standards and meet deadlines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in marine rigging, electrical systems, and networking.
- Strong knowledge of Yamaha, Suzuki, and Mercury engine rigging.
- Experience with NMEA 2000 networking, autopilots, sounders, and radar systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to clean, professional wiring.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues.
- Experience with Optimus steering, trim tab installations, and Seakeeper systems.
- Expertise in battery systems, including Blue Sea ACR installations and on-board chargers.
- Knowledge of marine plumbing, including head system installations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an efficient workspace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
