Overview
The General Manager is the heartbeat of the Young Blood Bee Co's taproom. This role owns the guest experience, leads a high-performing front-of-house team, and drives strong financial results while bringing the Young Blood vibe to life every day. The GM is a visible, hands-on leader who thrives on the floor, sets the standard for hospitality, and builds systems that keep the taproom running smoothly, efficiently, and profitably.
Guest Experience & Service
- Set the tone for an energetic, welcoming, and memorable taproom experience.
- Maintain a consistent presence on the floor, leading service and supporting the team during daily operations, events, and high-volume shifts.
- Uphold quality, consistency, and hospitality standards across beer, food, service, and environment.
- Step behind the bar or onto the floor as needed to ensure smooth service.
- Address guest feedback and concerns with professionalism, turning issues into positive experiences.
- Ensure menus, signage, and pricing are accurate, current, and on-brand.
- Partner with leadership on promotions, events, and community activations.
- Coordinate private events from booking through execution.
- Assist with marketing content in collaboration with the Social Media Coordinator.
Operations, Finance & Compliance
- Foster a culture of accountability, organization, and strong financial performance.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, including drawers, deposits, tip distribution, and petty cash.
- Manage purchasing and vendor relationships, monitoring usage, waste, and variances.
- Lead quarterly inventory counts and manage COGS to established targets.
- Maintain and enforce SOPs to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Ensure POS systems are accurate, optimized, and effective for reporting, labor, and inventory.
- Maintain full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Own sanitation, safety, cleanliness, and organization standards across the taproom.
- Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-energy workplace.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard front-of-house staff.
- Assist the Director of Hospitality with hiring and developing on-site management.
- Lead onboarding and training, including POS access, HR systems, and pre-shift communication.
- Create and maintain systems for ongoing training, cross-training, and performance development.
- Schedule FOH staff to meet business needs while hitting labor targets.
- Coach, mentor, and hold team members accountable while celebrating wins and addressing issues directly.
- Communicate clearly and consistently through meetings, digital tools, and day-to-day leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2 years of management or senior leadership experience in a high-volume bar, brewery, or hospitality environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage managers.
- Strong understanding of bar operations, beer service, and guest-focused hospitality.
- Solid financial acumen, including labor management, inventory, budgeting, and COGS.
- ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Hands-on experience with POS and inventory management systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Calm, decisive, and solutions-oriented in fast-paced environments.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and special events.
- Passion for craft beer and creating memorable guest experiences.

Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Director of Hospitality
- Direct Reports: Front-of-House Staff
Schedule & Availability
- Expected average of 50 hours per week, with seasonal and event-driven fluctuations.
- Required to take at least 8 days off per 30-day period to support long-term sustainability.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually
- Incentive: Up to 10% of base salary based on labor and COGS performance
- Two weeks paid time off (80 hours annually)
