Job Summary
The job of the ELL Paraprofessional provides support to the instructional process by serving as a support to the Lead Teacher. The ELL paraprofessional will be fluent in Spanish and English speaking that works with English Language Learners in schools to support certified teachers and help students learn English.
The paraprofessional will also assist with specific responsibility for developing students' ability to effectively perform courses of study; implementing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with key stakeholders in achieving student success; and ensuring federal and state compliance in regards to regulations.
Job responsibilities include:
- The ELL paraprofessional will be fluent in Spanish and English speaking that works with English Language Learners in schools to support certified teachers and help students learn English.
- Support/assist with Administering tests and assessments for the purpose of evaluating student ability
- Support/assist with Advising parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student achievement; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
- Support/assist with Adapting classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans and building academic and content knowledge.
- Support/assist with Collaborating with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan
- Support/assist with Instructing students for the purpose of improving their success in academics and skills.
- Support/assist with Advocating for the needs of students with teachers and leaders
- Support/assist with Ensuring compliance with state and federal mandates for students
- Support/assist with Providing interventions to students and support teachers in providing instruction within the classroom
- Support/assist with Maintaining an open line of communication between family and school in an effort to build relationships
- Support/assist with Modifying and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all students
- All other duties as assigned related to lunch/recess duty, teacher support, needs of the department
Qualifications:
- relevant: 3 years (Required)
- High School Diploma (required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
