Young America is looking for a Collections Support Specialist to join our Client Services Division. In this key role, you will assist the Collections Supervisor in managing rent collections, working with third-party agencies, and ensuring timely payments on both current and past-due accounts.
What You'll Do:
- Assist with Rent Collection: Support the collections team in securing rents due and following up on overdue accounts.
- Customer Interaction: Receive and respond to inquiries via phone, text, email, and in-person with compassion, while discussing balances, charges, and credits.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various departments and third-party agencies to resolve issues and ensure timely payments.
- Documentation: Accurately record all customer interactions in our software systems (Appfolio, ZenDesk, Google Suite).
- Resident Servicing: Deliver notices and assist with any on-site projects related to rent collection.
- Account Follow-up: Ensure customers’ inquiries are resolved, and assist with any required escalations to attorneys or collection agencies.
What You Bring:

- Excellent Communication Skills: You will interact with customers in multiple formats (phone, text, email, in-person) with respect and clarity.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with company software (Appfolio, ZenDesk, Google Suite, and MS Office).
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Integrity & Professionalism: You’ll maintain high standards of personal and work product integrity while complying with Fair Housing regulations.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in collections or customer service is a plus, but not required.
- Driver’s License: Must maintain a valid Illinois Driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable vehicle.
- Leasing Agent License: Ability to obtain and maintain an Illinois Leasing Agent License within 120 days of employment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods and climb stairs when needed.
Schedule:
- Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturday shifts.
- Flexibility: During peak periods, additional hours may be required to meet customer needs.
