What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at YouLand?
As our on-site Senior Accountant, you will work closely with our executive and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance as we scale. This role supports both YouLand and our affiliated private credit fund, with a strong focus on loan-level accounting, cash management, and reconciliations.
What You’ll Do
Close & Core Accounting
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Oversee and reconcile AP/AR, the general ledger, and balance sheet accounts
- Maintain financial controls, compliance documentation, and internal reporting systems
- Collaborate with external tax preparers and auditors
- Coordinate payroll and benefits reporting
Loan & Servicing Accounting
- Record loan fundings, payoffs, interest, fees, and reserves
- Reconcile servicing reports (e.g., FCI) to bank activity and the general ledger
- Coordinate with operations and underwriting teams to ensure accurate loan-level financial data
Banking & Cash Management
- Maintain and reconcile multiple bank accounts across entities (operating, trust/servicing, money market)
- Execute and track wires; ensure accurate documentation and clean audit trails
- Support cash tracking, controls, and reporting across entities
Planning & Process Improvement
- Assist with budget tracking, financial forecasts, and investor-facing financial documents
- Maintain organized documentation for capital markets and fundraising activities
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and template upgrades
Must-Have Qualifications
- 4–6 years of accounting experience, including real estate, lending, private credit, and/or fund accounting
- Strong reconciliation skills (high-volume, multi-entity environments a plus)
- Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations and wires
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets; comfortable building, improving, and maintaining templates
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- High attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be local to the Bay Area (this is an on-site role)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice to Have
- Experience with loan servicing systems and/or FCI
- Experience supporting bank lines, warehouse facilities, or securitizations
- CPA (or in progress)
- Experience in a small, fast-moving company (comfortable being both strategic and hands-on)
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting tools (or willingness to ramp quickly)
