What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at You Are My Sunshine Daycare?
You Are My Sunshine plans to prepare it's children to excel as young leaders by offering a strong educational curriculum tailored specifically for each age, all within an in-home style environment, allowing our kiddos to feel safe and confident!
We currently have an open full time position working in the infant and preschool classrooms. The shift is negotiable from 6:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday based on business and individual needs.

Prior childcare certificate and/or experience is preferred but not required. Applicant would agree to proper training requirements within the first six months of employment. This may include but is not limited to:
- Abusive Head Trauma Training
- CPR
- Child Abuse & Neglect Training
- Relevant Early Childhood Continuing Education (15-100 hours of self paced work)
- Food training
- Breastfeeding Training
You Are My Sunshine does offer medical and dental insurance contributions, discounted childcare, earned PTO and IRA matching . Pay is negotiable from $15-$20 per hour based on experience and training with advancement possible immediately. Performance based raise available after 90 day probationary period.
Duties would include but are not limited to:
- Responsible and efficient supervision of children
- creating and implementing weekly or monthly lesson plans, maintaining accurate assessments, conferences and portfolios for each child (all of this can be taught by the director)
- Interacting with children and parents with effective communication skills; responsible and courteous; establish positive relationships
- maintain classroom in an orderly and clean fashion; light housekeeping; take proper care of equipment
- Maintain organization in classroom materials as well as paperwork; work is accurate and precise.
- Take initiative to implement new experiences in the classroom; seeks out new assignments; makes suggestions to current processes
- Aware of classroom state rules and follows them accordingly; able to follow directions properly; practices proper safety procedures (all of this can be taught by director)
- Communicates effectively and efficiently with staff an management; works well within a team environment; sets and example with a positive attitude
- Reliable; starts and finishes on time; requires minimum supervision; puts in extra time and effort; at work regularly per agreed upon schedule
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
