The successful candidate will join a department that continues to create curriculum responsive to student needs, increasing student completion through the implementation of strategies geared toward student equity and applied agricultural learning. Faculty within the School of Agriculture collaborate across seven program areas to provide dynamic and interdisciplinary opportunities for students.(Note: The seven programs include Animal Science, Plant Science, Environmental Horticulture, Agricultural Mechanics, Agribusiness, Environmental Science/Natural Resources, and Dairy Science.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s in agriculture, agriculture science, education with a specialization in agriculture or other agricultural area (including: agricultural business, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, agronomy, animal science, enology, environmental (ornamental) horticulture, equine science, forestry, natural resources, plant science, pomology, soil science, viticulture or other agriculture science)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Education and/or experience in teaching agriculture, with an emphasis on applied agricultural sciences and hands-on instruction.• Current knowledge of one or more agricultural disciplines including plant, animal, dairy, environmental science/natural resources, horticulture, agribusiness, and agricultural mechanics.• Experience in practical agricultural operations and laboratory or field-based education.• Current understanding of assessment processes for improving student success at the course, program, and degree level.• Competence in integrating new agricultural technologies, applied sciences, and pedagogies directed at improving student success and equity.• Recent experience working with African American/Black, Hispanic, Native American, and other minoritized students in the classroom.• Willingness to examine and refine instructional practices to effectively engage racially diverse learners.• Experience and expertise in culturally responsive agricultural teaching as it relates to the relevancy of students’ lives, communities, and regional industries.• Demonstrated knowledge of the Hispanic-Serving designation for institutional, departmental, and instructional practices.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPart of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Teaching lower-division college courses in general agriculture and/or specific agricultural program areas.• Advancing equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines.• Teaching may occur in classroom, laboratory, farm, or field settings.• Informing students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance expectations.• Preparing and grading assignments, examinations, and projects, and informing students of their progress.• Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and other records and submitting them according to district policy.• Developing, implementing, and assessing student-learning outcomes for courses and programs and using the results for improvement.• Engaging in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.• Participating in professional development and mandatory FLEX activities.• Maintaining current knowledge in agricultural sciences and effective teaching/learning strategies for diverse student populations.• Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
