Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Native or near-native proficiency in English with strong understanding of English grammar, usage, and American culture.
- Experience in providing various levels of ESL/EFL/ESP instruction through a virtual environment.
- Understanding of diverse cultural, social, and religious backgrounds of international military students.
- Experience in creating blended learning lessons and the ability to tailor existing materials to fit the customer's needs and expectations.
- Instructor must have access to a Windows computer, webcam, headset with a microphone, a phone or smart tablet, and a high-speed internet connection.
Basic Education Requirement:
To qualify for this ESL Distance Learning Instructor position you must meet one of the BASIC Educational Requirements:
A. Degree: Successful completion of a four-year degree that included or was supplemented by a major field in education or 24 semester hours (or equivalent) of specific course work in English as a Second Language (ESL), English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Linguistics, Foreign Languages, or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or in a subject matter appropriate to the position.

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position such as English as a Second Language (ESL); English as a Foreign Language (EFL); Linguistics, Foreign Languages, or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL); plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience using online platforms, such as CL-150, Blackboard, Canvas, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of English Second Language, English Foreign Language and English Specific Purposes (ESL/EFL/ESP) instruction and knowledge of the English language and American culture.
- Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for distance learning environments.
- Knowledge of student assessment techniques and objectives to include test and measurement principles appropriate for virtual instruction.
- Skill in constructively evaluating and critiquing student performance in a virtual environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing through virtual platforms.
- Ability to work harmoniously with students and organizational personnel remotely and ability to analyze, evaluate, and accomplish special training studies and projects.
- Proficiency with technology and virtual learning platforms.
