Backend Engineer – Contract (Hybrid)
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Schedule: Hybrid – Onsite Tuesdays & Wednesdays
Duration: Through May 31, 2026; potential to extend
Rate: $50–$85/hr W2
About the Role
We are seeking a Backend Engineer to help build services and infrastructure that support trend-driven product design and large-scale data-driven applications. This role focuses on building backend systems that connect internal teams to emerging trend data, ensuring they can explore, analyze, and act on insights efficiently. You’ll work in a collaborative engineering environment to design scalable systems, integrate data sources, and enable high-performance backend capabilities.
What You’ll Do
- Build backend services and data infrastructure supporting trend and insights platforms.
- Develop APIs and backend functionality using Python and modern backend frameworks.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL and Opensearch.
- Build applications in containerized environments and ensure operational reliability.
- Support data ingestion, tagging, cleaning, and indexing pipelines.
- Integrate backend systems with internal and external data providers.
- Collaborate in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and related backend ecosystems.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, data infrastructure, and API development.
- Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative Agile engineering environment.
- Experience with data integration, indexing, and backend system design.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Redis or vector databases.
- Familiarity with modern backend frameworks or tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Poetry.
- Experience building interactive or search-driven backend services.
