Summary:
York Imperial Plastic’s Packaging Inspector are responsible a multitude of functions which are vital to our production process. Duties include, but are not limited to, the safe operation of injection molding presses, the inspection of quality parts while also packaging parts, and everything in between which is necessary to support our production process. A successful Packaging Inspector will work under the general supervision and direction of the Foreman and work safely while providing the highest quality, defect free product, and excellent customer service as well as meet all of the essential functions of the position.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions of a Packaging Inspector include:
- Adheres to all Company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a consistent and prompt attendance record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Safely operate production equipment including injection mold machines in compliance with all Company safety standards.
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions.
- Visually inspect and package workpieces from one or more machines to determine accuracy of machine operation using standards of procedures and measuring instruments.
- Report defective products or questionable conditions to the Foreman.
- Perform secondary operations on parts as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, warehouse, and production floor.
- Safely and effectively use proper tools including grinding equipment when provided.
- Successfully completes appropriate forms and paperwork related to production.
- Works near hot and cold parts and around moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to work independently and to follow through on assignments as instructed.
- Work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Assist with other departments, including production, shipping, and receiving, when necessary.

· The employee is regularly required to speak and hear while communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
· This position is very active and requires standing and walking for up to 8-10 hours with flexibility for overtime opportunities.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to forty (40) pounds.
Work Environment:
· The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
· The noise level in the work environment can at times be loud.
Position Type:
This is a full-time third shift position. Hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 40 hours per week with potential for overtime hours as well as weekend work.
Required Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
3. Minimum 1 year of manufacturing-related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. Previous experience as a machine operator.
2. Previous experience in plastics.
3. Training in general safety and quality system awareness.
