The Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) delivers compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing cancer treatment in an outpatient hospital environment. This role is integral to ensuring the safe administration of oncology therapies while supporting patients and families throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs, prior to and during treatment
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive medications
- Monitor patients for treatment tolerance, adverse reactions, and side effects, initiating appropriate interventions as needed
- Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment plans, symptom management, medications, and follow-up care
- Collaborate closely with oncology providers, pharmacy, laboratory, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and efficient care delivery
- Manage central lines
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and families throughout the cancer care journey
