What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer I/II/III position at York County?
A bachelor’s degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) program in an approved engineering or engineering technology degree is required.
Must obtain the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Reviewer and Stormwater Management Plan Reviewer certification within 12 months of hire. This requirement is only for certain positions and will depend on the functional area of assignment.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) program for an approved engineering or engineering technology degree and who have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant industry experience, have passed the FE exam and are designated as an EIT through the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation may be considered for hire as a Engineer II at a base salary of $83,652.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) program for an approved engineering or engineering technology degree and who have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience, and are registered as a valid PE in any of the 50 United States may be considered for hire as a Engineer III at a base salary of $92,227.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
This job is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment checks to include criminal history, background and DMV record checks.
Proficiency in using AutoCAD.
Comprehensive understanding of engineering concepts and principles, with a focus on sanitary sewer, water systems, and stormwater construction and design. Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems related to building construction is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of construction management principles and practices, including planning and design principles.
General understanding of project management and the capacity to prioritize and delegate work effectively.
Familiarity with local government, land use regulations, and urban planning.
Possession of valid drivers license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Ability to adapt to various work environments, such as office settings, construction sites, or outdoor locations, which may involve exposure to different weather conditions.
Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Physical demand requirements are for Light Work.
