Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week at both Tabb and Yorktown Libraries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and reference assistance to children, parents, teachers, and other patrons. They will also assist in scheduling, planning, and presenting Youth Services programs for infant, toddler, pre-school, school-aged, and teen library patrons.
This includes planning and conducting story times, Summer Reading Program, Battle of the Books, and other reading promotions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be familiar with resource and reference materials, particularly those pertaining to youth, and possess general knowledge of children's books and authors.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree and experience working with children in libraries or schools. Personal computer experience using Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet is necessary. An acceptable criminal background check is also required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and reference assistance to children, parents, teachers, and other patrons.

Work Environment:

Physical Demands:
The successful candidate must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including office equipment and heavy tables. They must also be able to lift boxes of books and/or periodicals, and push and pull a handcart or other type of cart.
