Position Summary
As an Intake Counselor, you are the first point of contact for animals and people seeking our help. You’ll handle intake documentation, process surrender applications, and work with pet owners to find solutions that keep pets in their homes whenever possible. When animals do enter the shelter, you’ll perform brief evaluations, give basic vaccines, and ensure all records are accurate. This position equally involves computer tasks, communication with the public, and direct animal handling.
You’ll provide emotional support and resources to the public, evaluate animals upon arrival, process paperwork, administer initial treatments (vaccinations and medications), and help reunite lost pets with their families. Intake Counselors are customer service all-stars, detectives, problem solvers, and compassionate counselors- often all in one interaction.
