About the Department: The Public Works Department is comprised of eight divisions that fall under the direction of the Public Works Director. Each division provides an important service to the citizens of York County and contributes to the quality of life experienced by those who live in our county. Of those eight divisions, Road Maintenance maintains approximately 700 miles of roadway under the County’s jurisdiction.
We invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time (40 hours per week), Building Technician position to join our team in the Public Works Department. The purpose of this position is to perform multiple skilled trades to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing; including high security door locking system, HVAC and technical trades associated in the repair and maintenance of multiple county-owned and leased facilities, providing a safe and comfortable environment for both employees and the public.Projected Hiring Range/Pay Grade 111: $20.20 - $24.24 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces high security detention locking system.
- Inspects and maintains fire alarm systems, door security and emergency lighting.
- Services and maintains plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Services and maintains electrical systems and high/low voltage control panels.
- Performs maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Performs multiple levels of construction and carpentry work.
- Assembles or moves office equipment and furnishings.
- Services and maintains commercial/residential kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Utilizes man-lifts to repair or install exterior lighting.
- Performs general grounds-keeping work as required, which requires the ability to drive.
- Rotating on an on-call schedule.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Three (3) years of building maintenance, repair of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
- Must possess CJIS Certification (Criminal Justice Information System) (or the ability to obtain)
- Certification in High Security Detention Equipment and Technology (security locks) (or the ability to obtain)
- Certification in Aerial Boom Lift
- Forklift Certification
- Blood Borne Pathogens Training
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
- Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
