What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Utility Forklift Operator position at YORK CONTAINER CO?
Job Summary:
Work safely and efficiently daily to provide support to the Production Department while focusing on the quality of material being handled, uptime throughout the department, consumable and product organization, while also working to set each incoming shift up for success.
Essential Job Functions:
· Must possess knowledge of the Plant and Warehouse organizational layout and flow, be able to work with a sense of urgency in fast-paced environment, while working safely.
· Learn and practice good lock out/ tag out procedures along with all required safe handling measures pertaining to the forklift, dock locks, maneuverability and handling of material, etc., throughout the course of your travels and tasks.
· Must learn how to read and understand the production schedule, plus possess the ability to learn and understand all Customer requirements regarding pad size, color, etc.
· Responsible for daily forklift inspections and upkeep.
· Responsible for pad inventory, pad organization and storage in both Plant and Warehouse facilities; must communicate with Shipping and Production departments daily on all pad needs, load pads from the Warehouse and unload/organize at Plant.
· Responsible to review production schedule multiple times daily and communicate with shift leadership on pad requirements and timing for production of orders.
· Responsible to communicate with production leadership and deliver required pads to proper machine centers.
· Inventory Corrugator consumables at Plant and Warehouse and communicate with Corrugator supervision and Shift Superintendent on replenishment needs; transport product from Warehouse to Plant as required.
· Assist in loading corrugated stock on trailers that is traveling to the Warehouse for production.
· Responsible for unloading corrugated stock coming from the Warehouse to the Plant and offloading necessary stock onto the return line, etc., for production purposes.
· Inventory anvil covers weekly/monthly and communicate with Shift Superintendent and Purchasing regarding replenishment.
· Load/unload waste bins, ink waste totes, copy paper, water/Gatorade, etc., traveling to and from the Plant and Warehouse.
· Responsible for keeping flammable cabinet by Back Bander stocked and organized appropriately; communicate any supply needs to Shift Superintendent or Plant Superintendent.
· Assist in safely transporting waste from building 3 through Plant Shipping area to the Baler room.
Other Functions:
· Fill in for unloading material in Production side of Warehouse and keeping production infeed lines stocked, as needed.
· Work overtime as production needs require.
· Must train as backup Baler Operator.

The employee is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required and assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
· High School Diploma/GED preferred
· A minimum of 2 years' corrugated experience or related manufacturing industry preferred
. Previous clamp truck experience is a plus

Machines/Tools/Equipment:
Tape measurer, computers (for reporting purposes), print and cutting dies, machine related devices (both computerized and manual mechanical devices), box cutters, and substrate (corrugated stock), shipping docks, forklift, weigh scale.
Safety:
Employees are expected to follow all facility safety guidelines that include adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety as outlined during their training. Some machine centers REQUIRE Hand and Arm Protection to increase safety and minimize the opportunity for contamination. Company issued gloves and sleeves will be issued if determined necessary
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing environment; Not temperature controlled - hot in summer and cold in winter (will need to dress appropriately). No jewelry or baggy clothes due to safety. YCC is a hearing protected facility, and ear protection (PPE's) is required at all times when in the plant.
