Performance Responsibilities
- Assist in the leadership and management of the K-8 or High School
- Act in place of the Principal in his/her absence and assist the Principal when he/she is present.
- Assist with the instructional improvement implementation and monitoring.
- Assist with scheduling of classes and extracurricular activities.
- Handle attendance and tardy concerns and issues.
- Maintain discipline throughout the student body, schedule parent conferences, and work with outside agencies as necessary. Chair or co-chair the discipline committee.
- Assist with the parent involvement initiative.
- Communicate with parents and stakeholders.
- Manage and supervise the students during the lunch periods.
- Handle class coverage and substitute teachers.
- Assist with the evaluation and supervision of teachers.
- Supervise support staff as assigned by the principal.
- Coordinate extracurricular and intramural activities.
- Assist in arrangements for and organization of assemblies.
- Monitor the school calendar for interim reports, report cards, and other correspondence to parents.
- Attend team and building level meetings as assigned.
- Provide written reports as directed and needed, including the school newsletter.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.
- Must hold Pennsylvania Certification to act as a K-8 or High School Assistant Principal.
- Minimum of five years teaching experience.
- Knowledge of discipline and current educational research.
- Administrative experience preferred.
- Act 34, Act 151 and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances (self-paid).
- Act 126 & Act 71 Training Certificates.
- Pre-Employment Drug Screening (self-paid).
