York Building Products, a division of the Stewart Companies, is looking for a high performing candidate to lead its Procurement function. The Procurement Director is an integral part of the York Building Products senior management team and must come equipped with strong financial acumen and an ability to turn strategic thinking into action. He/she must also possess proven negotiation and influence skills, must be able to analytically solve difficult problems, and have a proven track record of success in managing and coaching a Procurement team.
Position Summary
The Procurement Director is responsible for leading and managing the organization's procurement strategy, operations, and team to ensure the efficient sourcing of goods and services. In close collaboration with the operational and functional leadership teams, this role will develop policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize purchasing activities, reduce costs, and drive value while maintaining high standards of quality, ethics, and compliance. This role will also manage the energy sourcing programs for the company including gas, electric and fuel. In addition, this role will manage the policies and processes surrounding the company’s mobile assets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement short- and long-term procurement strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to forecast procurement needs and align them with business objectives.
Vendor Management
- Oversee the evaluation, selection, and management of suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
- Build strong relationships with key vendors and negotiate high-value contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Negotiate national and local agreements for key suppliers.
- Collaborate with vendors to implement processes/data automation that will reduce internal processing effort and provide better data to operations (e.g. APIs, telematics, etc.).
Policy & Compliance
- Establish and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure regulatory and ethical compliance.
- Monitor adherence to procurement guidelines.
Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
Cost Management & Reporting
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and track procurement KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management detailing procurement activities, savings, and supplier performance.
- Expand capabilities of current procurement system to enable faster and more reliable information for the operation teams.
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain.
- Ensure continuity of supply and contingency planning for critical products and services.
- Remain up to date on market trends, economic factors and regulatory changes that may impact the company and the supply chain.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressively higher-level procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in the aggregate mining, masonry production or construction industries is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, procurement systems, negotiation techniques, and supply chain management.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a cross-functional team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with ERP and procurement systems. GP and Core Integrators experience is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CIPS) is a plus.
- Travel to production facilities within PA, MD and DE as necessary. Limited overnight travel is required.
- Must be able to work permanently in the US.
