Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis.
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft.
- Manage medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Provide patient education on oral health care and post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain dental equipment, sterilize instruments, and uphold strict infection control standards.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures and understand relevant medical terminology for comprehensive patient care.
- Collaborate with the team using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient experience.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is required.
- Ability to perform X-ray imaging and operate 3D scanners is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical coding, medical records management, and electronic medical documentation systems like Epic is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical terminology will support effective communication within the team.
