Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials following aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop X-rays and operate 3D scanners as needed for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
- Ensure proper infection control procedures are followed to maintain a sterile environment.
- Provide patient education on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments and updating medical documentation.
- Support administrative tasks including dental reception duties, maintaining medical records, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Assist with medical coding for billing purposes when necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures.
Experience
- Prior experience in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is advantageous.
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry or specialized fields like endodontics or prosthodontics is desirable.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and medical imaging procedures such as X-ray operation is essential.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus.
- Certification in dental assisting or related training programs is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates committed to professional growth in dental healthcare.
