Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Thursday | 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Engagement: 18?Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Conversion
Pay Rate: $30.00 to $35.00

Applied Materials is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to support engineering and manufacturing operations in Newburyport, MA. This role involves the build, test, troubleshooting, and rework of complex electro?mechanical semiconductor equipment in a fast?paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex electro?mechanical technical functions including design support, testing, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting, and assembly
• Build, test, and repair electronics and electro?mechanical systems, experimental circuitry, prototype models, and specialized test equipment
• Troubleshoot system?level and component?level electrical and mechanical issues
• Support new system builds, NPI installations, and field upgrades
• Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, written procedures, and verbal instructions to perform testing and troubleshooting
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing on AMAT platforms per engineering and manufacturing documentation
• Compile logbooks, test data, and job documentation with strong attention to detail
• Perform rework and assist in root cause analysis; generate Quality Notifications as required
• Work independently with minimal supervision and provide informal guidance to junior technicians

Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding role requiring prolonged standing and walking; working in tight spaces; bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching; climbing stairs and ladders; lifting; use of hand and power tools; operating forklifts and heavy machinery; ability to distinguish between colors; and comfort working in noisy environments. This role may involve work in a cleanroom environment and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.
