Objective/ Engagement Overview - User Study Proctors
We are looking for 4 user study proctors to complete data collection for ongoing foundational research informing product design in the Audio and Vision space. We may need additional proctors as the efforts progress.

Assumptions
Candidates must have had relevant experiences from a prior academic/professional role (especially dealing with human research and conducting studies). Good candidates usually come from the following fields:
- Human Factors
- Human Computer Interactions (HCI)
- User Experience/User Interface Research (UX/UI research)\
- Human Studies on VR/Audio Headsets
- Human Physiology Research
- Clinical Trial or Studies
Requirements
- Must be able to work at Client location onsite 5 days/week at a secure building in Sunnyvale and/or Cupertino
- Must be able to work between 7:30am - 5:30pm, as needed by the program
- Physical ability to stand and move around for stretches of time
- Good manual dexterity
Key Qualifications
- Understanding of Human Factors Research and how to appropriately conduct user studies
- Ability to use quantitative/qualitative data appropriately to design studies and surveys
- Experience managing calendars and scheduling participants efficiently
- Pro-level experience with Numbers for other spreadsheet programs
- Excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and energetic experience for participants
- Exercises discretion and respect surrounding user privacy and unreleased products
Nice to have
- Working experience with data analysis methods (Matlab, JMP, Python, R)
- Experience with Motion Capture and/or Photogrammetry
- Experience with integrated sensors (load cells, strain gauges)
Description/Key Responsibilities
- Recruit subjects for studies while being mindful of diversity and inclusion criterion
- Facilitate and moderate in-person user studies with complex, detailed, and dynamic protocols
- Provide a positive, high energy experience for all participants
- Ensure appropriate participant compliance with relevant study protocols, documenting any protocol deviations or study issues
- Gather quantitative data from study devices and equipment, validating the fidelity of captured data
- Gather qualitative data from users
- Track study progress and participation metrics, provide timely updates and proactively raise any study-related issues and challenges that may arise
- Communicate day-to-day results, statuses and issues pertaining to User Study & Data Collections Projects
- Prepare, troubleshoot, and maintain study device/equipment for data collection efforts
- Perform basic troubleshooting on development consumer electronics
- Manage user study participant correspondence, recruitment, scheduling, and compensation
- Discuss data collection plans, issues and next steps with data consumers
- Proactively work with data consumers to streamline and improve data collection processes
- Oversee study environment setup and maintenance
- Assist with basic data processing and visualizations
- Distribute surveys, review, and collate survey responses and other feedback
- Support additional user study data collection efforts
- Flexibility to run study sessions Monday through Friday, between 7:30am - 5:30pm, as needed by the program
- Work closely with cross functional team members to deploy, run, and summarize results from the study
- Prepare project presentations and communicate findings with key stakeholder and upper management
Success Criteria/Definition of Done
Success criteria is measured by efficient user throughput with successfully executed study sessions that appropriately and accurately record quantitative and qualitative data. We expect the proctors to be respectful and kind, ensuring a positive user experience for all participants and cross-functional partners. Study updates and blockers need to be communicated in a timely manner with the right focus on impactful learnings.
