SUMMARY: Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation (YDWN) is a federally recognized sovereign nation. YDWN defines and governs its own affairs as a partner with the U.S. government and the State of California. YDWN has the responsibility and determination to provide for its people and to work within its own government, legal and cultural systems to preserve the independence and strengthen its nation. YDWN oversees all issues related to its economic development, cultural renewal, community giving and the health and wellness of the Tribe.
POSITION SUMMARY: Landscape Worker is responsible for performing a variety of landscaping projects involving maintenance of grounds and athletic fields for Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Depending on the areas of skill and assignment, employee may perform any of the following duties:
· Ability to layout and execute a landscape plan.
· Performs hardscape installations such as pavers, natural stone, veneer stone, retaining walls, etc.
· Plants trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.
· Applies fertilizer as needed.
· Mows lawns, trims shrubs, hedges and trees.
· Hoes weeds and rakes debris.
· Operates riding lawn mower, edger, blower, chain saws, sprayer, common truck and tractor, and other motorized equipment.
· Maintains equipment and vehicles in safe operating condition.
· Performs routine maintenance on all ground’s equipment.
· Checks operation of services and assists in installation and repair of sprinkler systems.
· Transports equipment as required using trucks and trailers sufficient to complete task.
· Works cooperatively with tribal members, staff and guests.
· Supports the Yocha Dehe Core Values.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
· Requires a basic knowledge and understanding of the procedures, methods and techniques of grounds and landscape maintenance.
· Must understand the procedures used in the proper application of fertilizer, and pesticides.
· Knowledge of grading, drainage and lawn installation.
· General knowledge of plant materials utilized in the landscape field and what is appropriate to this climate zone.
· Requires a basic knowledge of routine operation and repair of sprinkler systems.
· General knowledge of proper pruning and tree trimming techniques.
· Must be able to operate and maintain grounds and landscape maintenance tools, equipment and vehicles.
· Must be able to calculate fertilizer and chemical application amounts and apply them in a safe manner.
· Requires the ability to perform heavy manual labor, occasionally in extreme weather conditions.
Education and Experience
High School or GED equivalent required. Must have at least one (1) year of experience in landscape maintenance.
Communication and Comprehension Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone using professional and courteous etiquette with sensitivity to the diversity of a multi-cultural audience and with cultural sensitivity. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Individuals must be able to successful pass the Tribal Gaming Agency (TGA) Background Check and possess a valid driver’s license.

Must have sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical and safety information. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to perform duties both outside and inside in varying conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold and wet and/or humid, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must work with fertilizer and pesticide chemicals, and must be able to properly dilute, use and ensure safety to all that come in contact with chemicals.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The work environment includes regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
