Key Responsibilities
- Perform moderate to complex adjustments, maintenance, and repairs on packaging and pneumatic equipment
- Conduct machine changeovers and setups; troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical systems
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on packaging equipment, conveyors, and compressors
- Assist in equipment installations and complete work orders for repairs
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and documentation
- Diagnose mechanical issues, replace/repair parts, and verify functionality
- Set up full packaging line configurations independently
- Identify faulty operations or defective materials and report issues
- Maintain full compliance with SOPs, cGMPs, safety rules, documentation standards, and ethical practices
- Inspect product quality during production and complete all required sampling/testing
- Guide and train Packaging Operators on safe and effective machinery operation
- Maintain proper gowning and hygiene according to cGMP requirements
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, safe working environment
- Assist with general building mechanical/maintenance tasks as needed
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance; work extended hours and occasional weekends
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to work well in a team and assist others
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, work orders, and use measuring tools (micrometer, caliper, scale, VOM)
- Ability to follow written instructions precisely and perform basic math
- Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to disassemble, repair, and troubleshoot machinery
- Knowledge of cGMP, OSHA, and regulated manufacturing standards
- Ability to read and write basic English
- PLC knowledge a plus
- General computer proficiency
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of packaging mechanic experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in nutraceutical, supplement, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Lift up to 35 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs
- Stand and walk on the production floor for at least 7 hours per shift
- Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, and operating equipment
- Occasional work on ladders/step stools; leaning over or kneeling to access equipment
- Ability to wear required PPE: lab coat, mask, booties, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, respirator
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
- Exposure to dust, odors, fumes, noise, and cleaning chemicals
- Moderate noise level
- Indoor, temperature-controlled production areas
