What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPORTS COORDINATOR position at YMCA?
The Oshkosh Community YMCA is looking for a dynamic Sports Coordinator to assist the Sports Director with our youth and adult sports programs. The Sports Coordinator is an entry level position that drives participation and retention by leading in the planning and execution of all youth sports, sports camps, and adult sports programs to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer service to all participants, coaches, and parents. The Sports Coordinator will help lead a team of staff including officials, coaches, instructors and seasonal sports staff.
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience required; education, sports and rec or related field of study preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills required.
- Excels at building relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
- Prior experience coaching, officiating, playing and/or leading organized sports strongly preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required.
- Current CPR/ AED and First Aid certifications preferred.
Sports at the Y help youth and adults develop athletics skills and proficiency, and so much more- teamwork, friendships, confidence, character, and respect. The Sports Coordinator engages staff, volunteers, and the adults and youth served to develop, maintain, and grow a variety of mission-based sports programs that are diverse in terms of ages (pre-school to adult) and level of competition (developmental to competitive). The ideal candidate is flexible, hardworking, innovative, organized, and personable, adept at both administration and programming. Candidate must be able to work effectively on own during evening and weekend programs.
