Position Summary
The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for supervising and scheduling lifeguards, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with aquatics programming. This role ensures a safe and engaging aquatic environment while supporting the YMCA’s mission and core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
This is a seasonal position, May-August, averaging around 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and schedule lifeguards to ensure proper coverage.
- Work lifeguard shifts as needed based on pool demand.
- Assist in coordinating special events (e.g., pool parties, swim meets).
- Ensure pool readiness for inspections and daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records (water readings, schedules, and cleaning logs).
- Recruit, train, and oversee lifeguards to uphold high safety standards.
- Enforce all aquatic safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Handle member concerns professionally and respond to inquiries.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed.
- Report any facility or safety concerns to the Aquatics Director.
- Assist with planning and conducting in-service trainings and attend all scheduled trainings.
Qualifications
Entry Requirements:

Must hold and maintain current YMCA or American Red Cross Training Certifications in the following areas: of Lifeguarding of CPRforthe Professional Rescuer;

First Aid Training

Must be mature, dependable, and have a proven aquatic background.

Must be 18 years of age

Must have at least 2 years of experience.

Must exemplify the character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
