Salary: $18.00 Hourly
The Dodge YMCA is seeking Lifeguards who will be responsible for maintaining safe conditions in and around the swim area at the branch. They will promote a safe and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA aquatics policies and procedures.

- High School Diploma or equivalent is desirable.
- Minimum age – 16 years old. Lifeguards ages 16 and 17 must comply with NYS working hours.
- Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications.
- Demonstrate swim strokes, lifeguard rescues, and BLS/BFA/EO skills.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be Rescue Ready: uniform, pocket face mask/gloves, whistle, and rescue tube.
- Continuous and active scanning of the pool.
- Attend mandatory in-service training on a monthly basis.
- Know and understand the Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Evacuation Routes.
- Enforce aquatics safety rules consistently and fairly.
- Perform secondary duties only when not lifeguarding as requested (cleaning/sorting aquatics equipment, testing chemicals, tidying the pool deck, and/or assisting instructors).
- Maintain positive relationships with members and staff. Show members and colleagues respect by listening carefully and showing empathy when dealing with difficult situations.
- Follow the directions of the YMCA Aquatic Supervisors in accordance with YMCA Aquatic Standards.
- Maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness.
- Responsible for all recertification before expiration.
- Must attain the YMCA Lifeguard certification within 90 days of hire.
