This position supports the mission and work of the Y by supervising shelter residents, monitoring facility conditions, and maintaining accurate documentation of shelter activity. Provides calm, supportive assistance during crises and helps sustain a welcoming, respectful environment aligned with YMCA standards and program goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with residents, staff, and partners.
- Complete resident intakes; maintain daily logs, files, and waiting lists with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support residents with basic life skills (e.g., housing search, budgeting) and provide appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation.
- Monitor facility conditions; report maintenance needs promptly; assist with meal prep and unit readiness as assigned.
- Maintain inventories of food, cleaning supplies, and household goods; ensure common areas are orderly and safe.
- Serve as a liaison with Program Director, Senior House Manager, Case Managers, and community partners; participate in meetings as scheduled.
- Follow YMCA policies, emergency procedures, and mandated reporting/abuse-prevention protocols.
