Job Title: Wellness Coordinator
Job Summary
Develops, organizes, implements, and monitors a range of health and wellness programs based on member's requests, research, and previous successes.
Essential Functions
Mission and Community Oriented: Models and teaches YMCA values. Champion inclusion activities, strategies, initiatives. Ensures high level services that differentiate the YMCA from other providers. Provides staff and volunteers with orientation, training, development, and recognition.
People Oriented: Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. Builds relationships to create small communities. Effectively tailors communications to specific audiences. Provides staff with feedback, coaching, guidance and support.
Results Oriented: Holds staff and self-accountable for high-quality results using formal process to measure progress. Conducts prototypes to support new programs and activities. Provides others with framework for making decisions. Develops plans and manages best practices through engagement of team and others. Cultivates relationships to support fundraising. Effectively creates and manages budgets.
Personal Development Oriented: Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues, inappropriate behavior, or issues of performance. Shares new insights; facilitates change; models adaptability and awareness of change impact.

Essential Functions
- On site-Wellness Coordinator will provide leadership for a comprehensive wellness program.
- Researches and develops strategies to enhance programs and motivate staff to achieve individual and organization goals.
- Teach/substitute Group Exercise classes.
- Plans and implements classes, speakers, seminars, personal training, and fitness assessments that promote healthy lifestyles.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program materials and information.
- Develop new ideas to market personal training and paid programming.
- Assists and schedule with equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Engages members in areas of recommendations, program and equipment feedback, areas of concern.
- Assists Director with use of facilities and equipment for program activities and special events.
- Compiles program statistics; evaluates effectiveness of, and participation in, programs; makes recommendations based on data.
- Manage, monitor, and report on issues of safety and security.
- Assists the Senior Director of Health & Wellness in procedures relevant to the operation of the wellness programs.
- Ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels with respect.
- Keeping all required certifications up to date in all areas of wellness.
- Associates/Bachelors degree in health education or health & science.
- Five or more years of experience in wellness program development.

- Ability to move objects weighing 20 plus pounds a short distance.
- Ability to reach, bend, stretch, and climb stairs.
- Ability to thoroughly clean and sanitize machines both weight and cardio machines.
- Ability to engage sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform and demonstrate essential functions, and supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of using weights.
