What are the responsibilities and job description for the Y After School Program Aide - Roanoke City Schools position at YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge?
Assists in the daily administration of the YMCA After-School Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist students in completing daily homework assignments.
- Check to make sure homework is done correctly.
- Help record and maintain the student information.
- Supervise and monitor participants during hand washing and bathroom breaks.
- Supervise and monitor participants during indoor programming and free play.
- Supervise and monitor participants during outdoor programming and free play.
- Provide appropriate First-Aid to participants as the need arises.
- Set up for nutritional snacks.
- Clean up areas after snacks.
- Clean up after participants have left.
- Other duties as assigned by Child Care Director, Child Care Coordinator, or Site Director.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to read, interpret and communicate information effectively
- Ability to work alone or in groups
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma.
- One-year experience in childcare.
