What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Trainer - Salem Family YMCA position at YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge?
Maintains and monitors a safe exercise setting, while providing individual attention to the total wellness of members and clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists members on the proper use of exercise equipment.

Gives sound health and fitness training and advice to members/clients.

Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Offers and provides spotting to members.
-
Provides general maintenance and organization to the exercise area and equipment.
-
Provides a safe, clean area for members to exercise.
-
Maintains current CPR and First Aid certifications.
-
Stays current with the latest safety information and research in the fitness industry.
-
Notified supervisor of any damaged equipment or shortages.
-
Wears appropriate exercise attire and footwear.
-
Arrives five minutes prior to the appointment start.

Motivates and encourages participants with positive feedback.
-
Executes Branch emergency plan as necessary.

Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

Ability to conduct guest tours

Ability to read, interpret and communicate information

Ability to type proficiently and work in front of a computer screen

Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS

CPR and First Aid certified.

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Personal Training Certification from a nationally recognized organization.
