What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gymnastics Coach - Rockbridge YMCA position at YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge?
FUNCTION:
Responsible for teaching safe, fun and effective gymnastics classes to children and adults. Works directly with the Director/Coordinator to maintain continuing education on safety, different class formats and teaching skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Attend instructor meetings.
- Stay current with the latest safety information and research in the gymnastics industry.
- Includes YMCA core values as part of the instruction.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification(s) and gymnastics certifications.
- Participate in special events.
- Develop Gymnastics curriculum under the guidance of the Director.
- Create lesson plans that accommodate all skill levels.
- Keep the Gymnastics equipment organized, properly care for the equipment, and straighten up after your class.
- Cover your classes when you are unable to teach. Classes are not to be cancelled.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Memory recognition of members and their names
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to spot participants
- Able to perform/demonstrate Gymnastics skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred to have some gymnastics experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working with children, youth and/or teens
