Position Summary
The Benjamin Barnes YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Swim Instructors to lead swim instruction for children ages 4–14 in a half-day summer program. Instructors will provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment while teaching water safety and swimming fundamentals.
Qualifications:Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching or working with children preferred
- Strong swimming skills required
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
- Ability to lead groups and manage behavior in a positive manner
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Key Responsibilities
- Teach swim lessons to children of varying skill levels (ages 4–14)
- Ensure the safety and supervision of all participants at all times
- Develop and implement age-appropriate swim instruction and activities
- Promote water safety awareness and confidence in the water
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment
- Assist with setup and cleanup of program equipment and pool area
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and participants
- Follow all YMCA policies, procedures, and safety protocols
