About the Role:

The SACC (School Age Child Care) position at the Vigo County YMCA is designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children during after-school hours. The primary goal of this role is to facilitate the social, emotional, and physical development of children through structured activities and play. This position requires collaboration with other staff members to create a positive atmosphere that encourages learning and personal growth. The SACC staff will also communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure that each child's needs are met. Ultimately, the success of this role is measured by the well-being and satisfaction of the children and families served by the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children in a group setting.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Previous experience in a school-age child care program.
• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and engage with children in a variety of activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate programs and activities that promote learning and development.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring that all materials and equipment are safe and accessible.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a cohesive team environment and support each other's efforts.
