Qualifications
- One to two years related experience preferred
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Completion of Red Cross Lifeguard and YMCA swim lesson instructor trainings
- Staff Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and mentor swim instructors and lifeguards, including onboarding,
- Plan and facilitate staff meetings, in-service trainings, and professional development
- Program Management & Operations
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all Aquatics programs (swim lessons, lifeguard courses,
- Maintain schedules, attendance, rosters, and participant progress tracking.
- Serve as on-deck supervisor for swim lessons.
- Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with YMCA and Red Cross safety standards.
- Implement emergency procedures, administer first aid/CPR as needed, and maintain
- Conduct daily and weekly inspections of pool, equipment, and facilities.
- Member & Community Relations
- Maintain positive relationships with members, participants, and community partners.
- Respond to inquiries, concerns, and class cancellations promptly.
- Compliance & Administrative Duties
- Track and maintain staff certifications, program records, chemical logs, and safety
- Ensure implementation of Y-USA swim curriculum in all lessons.
- Program Growth & Initiative
- Identify opportunities to improve programs, increase participation, and enhance member
- Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support Aquatics department and YMCA mission
