Association Wellness Director

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and oversee wellness programs and initiatives that meet the diverse needs of community members
• Lead and motivate fitness staff, including trainers and instructors, to deliver high-quality services
• Monitor program effectiveness and continuously seek opportunities for improvement
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages participation from individuals of all ages and backgrounds
• Manage wellness facility operations, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and proper maintenance
• Collaborate with other YMCA departments to promote community engagement
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fitness trends, certifications, and best practices
• Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
• Provide staff leadership for annual fundraising campaign and other events as assigned
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule and oversee wellness and fitness floor staff and volunteers
• Create and manage department budget

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in health sciences, fitness, recreation, or a related field preferred
• Proven experience in fitness program management or wellness program development
• Certification in personal training, group fitness, or related areas (e.g., ACE, NASM, AFAA)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to motivate and inspire diverse populations
• Knowledge of safety standards and facility operations
• Passion for community service and promoting healthy lifestyles
