Essential Functions
- Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, following lesson plans provided for each class level.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with program participants and parents/caregivers while supporting them in achieving their goals.
- Relays information regarding participants' progress as well as other programs to parents/caregivers, when appropriate, while maintaining a friendly and warm atmosphere.
- Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, parent handbooks, certificates).
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

Swim Instructor I
- Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification
- Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance.
- Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification

- Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance.
- High School Diploma
- 3 years teaching swim lessons experience OR completion of YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSLI) Training.
- Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification
- Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance.
- High School Diploma
- Meet all requirements for Level II
- 5 years of experience teaching swim lessons
- 3 years of experience supervising a staff team
