Seasonal Activity Specialist - Athletic & Cabin Counselor

Overview

The Athletic Specialist & Cabin Counselor position is responsible for the planning, implementing and leading various athletic programs for campers in large and small group settings. Athletic Specialists leads and lives with a cabin of up to 7 campers. Athletic activities include, but are not limited to: Archery, Basketball, Baseball, Gaga, Land sports, Court Sports, Tennis, Volleyball, Yoga, and Mountain Biking. The Athletic Specialist/Cabin Counselor role is a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, supervision and safety of all campers in program area and cabins.

• Create, plan and implement age-appropriate athletic lesson plans. 

• Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available. 

• Assist campers with achieving their goals. 

• Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day which includes but is not limited to; camper check-in and check-out; mealtimes; activities; and before/after-hours duties as assigned.

• Attend and participate in All Staff Training.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Previous camp experience or experience working with groups of children is preferred.
• Ability to lead and instruct a group of campers in sports program.
• Have knowledge in safety, care of equipment, inventory, skill instruction, and progressive age-appropriate programming.
• Must be able to identify age and grade level characteristics of campers.
• Training and certification will be provided during All Staff Training.
