The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is looking for Summer Staff for our resident camp at Camp Shady Brook. Do you have a passion for working with children? Do you love the outdoors? Camp Shady Brook, a branch of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, is a residential camp located about 70 minutes northwest of Colorado Springs.
Camp Shady Brook is looking for an Adventure Camp Coordinator who will enthusiastically represent the YMCA by displaying a positive attitude, maintaining a high level of energy, and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job through the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The Adventure Camp Coordinator will plan, direct, and supervise YMCA Camp Shady Brook’s Adventure Camp programs. The Adventure Camp Coordinator will create a one-week Adventure Camp curriculum that incorporates outdoor living skills, hiking, orienteering, and rock climbing while ensuring a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. All summer positions will be from May 28th - August 4th with room and board.

WATERFRONT COORDINATOR REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Previous waterfront or pool experience as a lifeguard
- Prior experience with youth or family programming.
WATERFRONT COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a waterfront program including canoeing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding, fishing, and swimming.
- Train, supervise, and schedule all lifeguards, including weekly in-services for lifeguards.
- Train the summer staff and campers in proper waterfront procedures and practices.
- the Evaluate swimming abilities of staff and campers through swim assessments.
- Assume responsibility for the health/welfare of campers entrusted to them.
- Keep accurate records of waterfront usage, equipment logs, and camper/staff swimming ability.
- Implement a test, mark, and protect system that meets or exceeds ACA and state standards.
- Coordinate all waterfront rescue procedures in accordance with the camp’s Waterfront Emergency Action Plan and industry standards.
- Check and appropriately log equipment regularly and coordinate for repairs as needed
- Immediately report any safety, health, or equipment maintenance problems to the Associate Executive Director upon discovery.
- Maintain inventory of necessary equipment/supplies and inform the Associate Executive Director of needed supplies in a timely fashion.
- Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties.
- Prepare for, assist in leading, and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings.
- Participate in and lead waterfront emergency drills as directed.
- Facilitate regular buddy checks to ensure the safety of swimmers.
- May be called upon to live with a cabin group or to assist counselors with a cabin group.
- Will work stay over weekends as assigned.
- Play an active role in all camp activities
- Evaluate the current season, make suggestions, and create a Waterfront manual for the following season.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

SALARY RANGE:
$420/week plus Room & Board
