What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Cormorant - Day Camp Counselor position at YMCA of the Northern Sky?
Day Camp Counselor:
This position is the primary caregiver for campers. This position is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.
• Assist with camper check-in and check-out daily.
• Assist in the teaching and leading of age-appropriate activities of campers.
• Responsible for supervision of all day campers, activities, behaviors, lunch and snack.
• Exhibits enthusiasm for curriculum, positive leadership, and role models for campers.
• Effectively works as a team player with other day camp lead counseling staff.
• Prepares plans with the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) and Junior Counselors without leaving them alone at any time.
• Addresses any concerns promptly with the Camp Coordinator.
• Reports any accidents or incidents to the Camp Coordinator and Camp Director. Fills out any necessary reporting/paperwork. Calls parents as needed.
• If staying overnight, will help with evening programs and cabin counselor breaks.
• Completes an evaluation at the end of the camp season.
